Alice (Lafond) Viscount

Alice Lafond Viscount, age 80, died on Monday February 20, 2017. Mrs. Viscount was born in Watertown, NY to the late Alex and Eileen Flanigan Lafond.

Alice was a registered nurse, having graduated from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Watertown, NY. She was one of the first nurses who volunteered, and was employed by Hospice of Charlotte, now Hospice and Palliative Care Charlotte Region, when they began caring for patients and families in 1979. Her greatest love of nursing was in providing hospice care, which she enjoyed for 23 years.

Mrs. Viscount was predeceased by her loving husband, Roy, in 2012. She is survived by her cherished children and their spouses, Michael and his wife Carol, of Raleigh, David and his wife Pamela, Jeffrey, Janet and her husband Thomas Murphy and Thomas, all of the Charlotte area.

Alice is also survived by her grandchildren, whom she adored, Devon Miles [Justin] and Michelle Viscount, Jonathan, Kelsey and Alec Viscount, Ryan and Meghan Viscount, Alicia and Hannah Murphy and Lauren Watkins.

Survivors also include her brother Charles Lafond and his wife Betty Ann, her sister Patricia and her husband Michael Burns, and her sister-in-law Susan and her husband Richard Meschino, all whom she dearly loved, and many wonderful nieces and nephews and their children, and many dear friends.

A memorial service at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 8451 Idlewild Road, Charlotte on Saturday February 25, 2017 will begin at 12:30pm led by Father Patrick Hoare. Prior to the service, visitation will begin at 11:30am. Immediately following the service, inurnment will be in St. Gabriel Catholic Church Columbarium, 3016 Providence Road, Charlotte.
