Angela Lou (Spence) Harshbarger

Angela Lou Spence Harshbarger, 64, from Barboursville, WV went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at Carolinas Palliative Care and Hospice of Cabarrus County in Kannapolis, NC.  She was born April 30, 1953, in Huntington, WV, a daughter of the late Rev. Paul E. Spence and Elma Lee Blake Spence.

In 1972, Angela married the love of her life, Thomas E. Harshbarger. In addition to raising their two children in Ceredo, WV, she volunteered at Ceredo Elementary School as a Homeroom Mother and with the PTA. She was an avid reader and she enjoyed taking her children to Cabell and Wayne County public libraries.   Angela and her husband moved to NC in 2010 to spend time with their children and grandchildren.  Angela was a model example of a matriarch. She loved her family with the deepest love humanly possible. Her kids and grand kids never went without food, drink, or selfless care. Her heart was one of gold. She always made sure to lead by example in showing her family how to live and how to treat other people. She taught that all people are equal in God's eyes, and no one person is better than another; and therefore all people should be treated with the same amount of love, compassion, and empathy. As a result of Angela's teachings, her legacy is passed onto her family members.

Angela is survived by her husband, Thomas, daughter, Misty Harshbarger Carson (Tom); one son, US Army MSG Shane Harshbarger (Kara); one brother, Warren Spence (Rosemary); three grandchildren, Cassandra Carson, Leilah Harshbarger, and Steven Harshbarger.  She is also survived by a number of other relatives in WV.
