Welcome to the memorial page for

Carla (Liske) Vaughn

March 13, 1964 ~ November 20, 2015 (age 51) 51 Years Old

On November 20,2015, Carla Liske Vaughn lost her long and courageous battle against cancer that she was so determine to win. Carla was born on March 13,1964 and was the daughter of Mary and Doyle Liske.  She grew up in Charlotte, graduated Providence Day School and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a degrees  in accounting and  finance. She  became a Certified Public Accountant and began her career with First Citizens Bank in Charlotte. After her marriage she moved to Bristol, Tennessee and became controller for the city of Bristol. After several years in that position she was offered and accepted a position as controller for Virginia Intermont College. She held that position until her cancer diagnoses in October of 2008.  She was preceded in death by her husband of twenty one years Lee Vaughn who died January 30, 2014.

Carla and Lee are survived by their  three children. twins, Charlotte and Sarah,  who are sixteen years old,  and their brother Reilly who is fourteen, her  parents, Doyle and Mary Liske as well as Lee's mother Mrs. Harrold Vaughn.  Additional family members include Carla's brother David Liske and wife Julie and their children, Kyle and wife Mary, Paige and husband Jonathan and their son Brently, as well as David's and Julie's son Jacob. Also surviving are Carla's  brothers in law  Steven Vaughn and  wife Caroline and their children Allen and Ann Lee, and Vernon Vaughn and wife Mary and  daughter Elizabeth.

Throughout Carla's seven year battle she fought to survive long enough to see her daughter's graduate high school and hopefully Reilly too. Unfortunately she lost this battle, but not from lack of determination and courage. She never lost her sense of humor or beautiful smile and always responded emphatically when asked "how are you"? "I feel great". Although she lost her battle with cancer, she did succeed in her determination to create loving memories for her children and setting an example of how to face life's tribulations with skill, courage determination, optimism and aplomb. She was an inspiration to all who knew her.

A memorial service will be held at Christ Episcopal Church at 11:30 AM on Monday, November 30th. The family will receive friends after the service. Memorials for the education of the children may be made to: Lee Vaughn Children's Fund, and mailed to Doyle T. Liske, 1300 Baxter Street, Suite 251, Charlotte, N.C. 28204.
