Carlotta (Murphy) Rhew

Carlotta Murphy Rhew, 81, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2016, at Pineville Healthcare.

She was born May 14, 1935, in Newton, North Carolina, to the late Carl and Lottie Murphy. She married Ervin Winston Rhew Jr. in 1954 and they moved to Charlotte in 1969. Carlotta worked for many years as a bookkeeper and was a member of Living Saviour Lutheran Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Edith Marlowe, Robey Murphy, Howard Murphy, Carroll Murphy, and John David Murphy; and her husband, Ervin.

Carlotta is survived by her son, David Rhew (Mary); grandchildren Adam Rhew and Elizabeth Rhew Cooper (Will); great-granddaughter Eleanor Cooper; and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Carlotta’s life will be held Saturday, October 22 at 10:30 a.m. at Living Saviour Lutheran Church in Charlotte. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Carlotta’s name to Hospice & Palliative Care (South Charlotte Region) or Living Saviour Lutheran Church.
