Mrs. Edna Belle Musick Silvers, born on Jan. 15. 1923 in Muncie, IN passed away peacefully on Wed. Jan. 10, 2018 in Charlotte, NC. She grew up in Muncie, IN one among a family of 9 siblings and attended Muncie Central High School from 1931-1935. After graduating, Miss Edna was very much a social butterfly. She enjoyed growing up in the late 30's early 40's and loved the clothes, the high heels, silk stockings with seams, hairstyles, music, dancing and going out with her brothers and 2 sisters for many years to come. She loved to sing and play her guitar at church, special events and parties.

Later she met and married the love of her life, the late Howard Frederick Silvers in 1946 and they were happily married for 27 yrs. One of the highlights of their life together was dancing to their favorite song "Twilight Time" by the Platters at the Skyline club. They had a very full and joyful life together welcoming 2 sons, Duane & Gary. They enjoying traveling, dancing, boating, picnics, playing cards, hosting family dinners and spending time with their sons and of course later doting on their 3 grandchildren.

Miss Edna especially loved the weekends with Howard and the boys making her specialties, noodles with beef from scratch carefully crafting the noodles by hand and a knife; and for dessert her carrot cake, a secret recipe. The devoted couple loved many evenings out with her many brothers, their wives, her 2 sisters & their husbands. The whole family bonded over the years hosting many family reunions, cooking holiday meals with her sisters, singing, dancing, Sunday afternoon & evenings -home watching ballgames and Nascar racing. What they enjoyed the most was hosting their 2 teenaged son's parties with their friends and especially youngest son, Gary's rock 'n' roll band highlighting his playing the drums and traveling to play in neighboring towns. During one of the band's jam sessions in their garage Gary and fellow band members were surprised to see Miss Edna Belle pick up a guitar and start playing and singing "Beautiful Brown Eyes." Up until that point neither brother knew their mother had this hidden talent as she always put their needs first. From that moment forward, they never thought of their mother as only the most fun mom on the block making cookies & cupcakes for their them & their friends; but also as someone they respected as a talented individual. They were so proud.

Ms. Edna was a member of Muncie Moose Lodge #33, Moose Lodge Country Club and High Street United Methodist Church in Muncie, IN. She worked as a Metallurgist at Sherry Laboratories in Muncie, IN for 33 years. She was especially proud of her accomplishments at work, one being after her retirement she was requested by the President to return for 2 more years on a part-time basis.

Years later from 1998 to present, she dearly loved living on Lake Wylie, Charlotte, NC with her son Gary and his wife Shelia. While here she enjoyed traveling with them but mostly loved the lake life, many bond fires by the lake, cooking out on the boat dock, lake parties with friends, boating, sitting in her swing and traveling back to IN to visit her sisters and nieces every chance she got. She loved receiving family and friends in Charlotte until the later days of her life. She truly enjoyed her Saturday afternoons as her grandson, Larry carried her to her local beauty shop appointments where she loved being with her friends there. She also loved shopping  with her daughter-in-law, Shelia and playing BINGO with her best friends Gina & Shirley. She was an avid reader of romance and mystery novels and religiously watched the Carolina Panthers, Nascar racing, soap operas, game shows and Lifetime movies. Most of all she cherished God, her husband, her 3 sons, her 3 grandchildren, all her great-grandchildren, family and friends.

As her health declined in her later years with numerous stays in the hospital and rehab, she required 24 hr. around the clock professional care and resided the majority of her last 1 1/2 years at Huntersville Health & Rehabilitation Center, 13835 Boren St., Huntersville, NC 28078 with a brief stay at Carolina Health & Rehabilitation Center, 1735 Toddville Rd., Charlotte, NC 28214. We owe enormous gratitude and would like to thank all the doctors, nurses, CNA's, caretakers and consultants of Huntersville Health & Rehabilitation Center, Carolina Health & Rehabilitation Center, Hospice & Palliative Care and Levine & Dickson Hospice House for their professional, loving and excellent care of our dearest Ms. Edna. Silvers, Wayland, NY and 1 granddaughter, Katherine (Katie) Burpee (husband, Chuck) of Wayland, NY. She was the proud great-grandmother of David, Sammy, Clinton, Jacob, Trinity, Julianna & Dylan, whom were each very special to her. She never forgot a birthday, holiday or special event in their lives. She is also survived by her sister Naomi Withrow of Indianapolis, IN and several nieces and nephews with whom she remained very close.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Howard Frederick Silvers in 1973; (2) of her 3 sons, Larry Dean Norman in 1945 at age 5 yrs. and Howard "Duane" Silvers in 2009; her (6) brothers, Sherman, Earl, Omer, Clarence, Raymond and Herman Musick of Muncie, IN and (1) sister, Wanda Astrop of Indianapolis, IN.
