Emma Louise (MawMaw) Reynolds

Mrs. Reynolds, 90 of Charlotte, passed away at her home on Thursday, November 26, 2015. Emma, the daughter of the late George and Maybelle (Poston) Gainey was born in Rockingham on March 1, 1925. A Charlotte area resident for the past 35 years, Mrs. Reynolds had worked as a spinner for many of the area mills and following her retirement went to work as a cook for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System. A member of Gateway Baptist Church, Emma enjoyed cooking for family and friends and puttering around her yard.

Besides her parents, Mrs. Reynolds was preceded in death by her husband James (JB), son Wayne and a brother Al Gainey.

Survivors include her 5 children Eddie (Jeanie Poland) Reynolds of Bossier City, LA, Jean (Barry Hinson) Stokes of Charlotte, Jan (Larry Whitaker)Swann of Charlotte, JoAnne (Bill) Barnes of Mooresville and Kim (Craig) Sullivan of Thompson, GA; brother Ernie (Laura) Gainey of Odessa, TX. Also surviving are her 16 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.

The family will receive Sunday, November 29th from 4-7 PM at Carolina Funeral Service & Cremation Center, 5505 Monroe Rd, Charlotte. A graveside service officiated by Rev. Hugh Foy will take on Monday, November 30th at 11:30 AM at Sunset Memory Gardens, Lawyers Rd, Mint Hill. A gathering of family and friends will follow the burial at Gateway Baptist Church, 6321 Robinson Church Rd, Charlotte
