Eugene "Gene" Van McRorie

Eugene Van McRorie, a Charlotte native, passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2017. He is survived by his wife Donna, daughter Trina Patterson, son-in-law Wayne Patterson, sons Bradley Milton (Brandy), Joe Milton (Meloday). Granddaughters: Casey (Stephen) Hall, Stacey Patterson, Amanda (Couger) Alleshunas, Brittany (Kyle) Donn and Rebekah Milton. Grandson James Milton. Great grandsons: Zane Hall and Dalton Hall.

His laughter and infectious smile will forever be missed by everyone who knew him. He was happiest when he made people laugh. Family and friends were everything to him. He loved RV camping, especially at the beach and shag dancing. He also enjoyed wood working and made many gifts for grandchildren and others. After retirement, he went to a nearby recreation center to swim and exercise and discovered a whole new world of friends. He competed in their Iron Man competition for many years and even won 2 years in a row. He was a longtime member of East Gate Masonic Lodge 692 in Charlotte.

A Masonic service will be held Thursday, June 8, 2017 at Carolina Funeral & Cremation, 55055 Monroe Road, Charotte, NC 28212. Visitation is at 1:00 pm and a service of remembrance is at 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Leroy Springs Recreation Center or Hospice and Palliative Care of Charlotte.
