Welcome to the memorial page for

Gerlena Davis Pressley

August 3, 1939 ~ March 7, 2017 (age 77) 77 Years Old

“Precious Lord, take my hand

Lead me on, let me stand

I’m tired, I’m weak, I’m alone

Through the storm, through the night

Lead me on into the light

Take my hand precious Lord, lead me home.”

                        Elvis Presley

Hemby Bridge- Mrs. Gerlena Davis Pressley, 77, passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2017. Visitation for family and friends will be at Carolina Funeral and Cremation Center Thursday, March 9 from 6PM to 8PM. Funeral services will be conducted graveside on Friday, March 10 at 2PM at Pineville City Cemetery in Pineville, North Carolina. Pastor Donnie Crump Sr. of Howie Baptist Church, Waxhaw North Carolina will officiate.

Mrs. Pressley is survived by her daughters Robin Pressley Mingus and Deborah Ann Pressley, her son Larry Eugene Pressley; grandchildren Michael Brandon Mingus, Stephanie Mingus Legare, and Brandon Eugene Pressley and her great granddaughters Peyton Elisabeth Legare and Skylar Lee-Ann Eller. Mrs. Pressley is also survived by countless friends and other family members who will always remember her for her enduring kindness, love of family, and devotion to her husband, Thomas Larry Pressley in whose loving arms she now resides.

Mrs. Pressley will be remembered most for the invaluable time she spent with others throughout her life whether it was playing her favorite card games, traveling to see family, or, in her subtle but loving way, making suggestions for simple home improvements. As a family member once said, “There was never a game Gerlena passed up if it involved being with friends and family if only for a short while”. Mrs. Pressley was a devoted wife who, with the passing of her husband, Thomas Larry Pressley in 1996 after 38 years of marriage, became even more committed to enjoying time with family. As her great granddaughter, Peyton Elisabeth Legare, liked to say, “She taught me how to play cards, but wouldn’t share her sneaky ways of cheating with me!!”

And now, as she is surrounded by her family and friends once last time, as those who loved her deeply and will always remember the mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend that she was, we say to you Gerlena Davis Pressley, rest well for the time you spent on Earth will never be forgotten, the love you showed will be passed on, and the lessons you taught will never be unlearned. Rest well in the arms of your loving husband and know that one day you will be with family and friends again.
