James Andrew McGinty

Jim died surrounded by family on December 21st at the Carolina Medical Center.

He was born March 9th 1964 in Birmingham Michigan to Gerald and Margaret Hayes McGinty, the 5th of 6 children: Thomas (deceased), Margaret, Stephen, Michael, and John.

He moved to Charlotte with his family in 1975, Graduated from South Mecklenburg High School, attended Central Piedmont Community College, and began working in the home construction business. He married Angela Maria Tompkins in 1989 and fathered 4 surviving children Matthew, Nicholas, Jacquelyn, and Luke. He became a building contractor and continued this for his lifetime. He was a gregarious and friendly man who enjoyed people and people activities.

He participated in sports beginning with Charlotte Little Leagues and through early adulthood his enthusiasm and support for ACC and local proteams was intense. After homes chores and normal maintenance he loved to research and follow current events and political activities. He loved the beaches and vacationed with family when available. He was a lifelong catholic and a family member of St. Matthews Parish.
