Joseph V. Meacci

Mr. Meacci of Stallings, North Carolina, formerly of Southern Pines passed away on Monday, June 13, 2016 at Novant Hospital-Matthews. Born on April 21, 1941 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Joe was the son of late Joseph and Marion Meacci.

Mr. Meacci served as President of Colonial Abrasives of Aberdeen, NC and was a member of Grinding Wheel Institute of North Carolina. Joe was a former member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Pinehurst, member of Knights of Columbus of Sacred Heart and Owner of Andy OnCall in Charlotte. After moving to Charlotte, Joe and family became members of St. John Neumann Catholic Church .

Joe loved his grass (and not the funny kind). He loved woodworking and enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters. His favorite vacation spots were Asheville, Disney World and Hilton Head. And he always was fond of a nice glass of wine, listening to beach music and grilling on his Weber grill.

Besides his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his brother Tommy Meacci and sister Sybil Kress.

Mr. Meacci is survived by his wife Arlene Meacci; children Vicki Rakes and husband Michael of Carthage, and Patti Zalnasky and husband Mark of Southern Pines; grandchildren Abagail and Lauren Rakes, Christina and Jenni Zalnasky; Mr. Meacci is also survived by his sister Missy Meacci of Wells, ME; brothers in law David Chappell and wife Carmen of Ponte Vedra, FL and Raymond Chappell and wife Joann of Imperial, PA; four nieces and two nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, June 24th at 1 PM at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 8451 Idlewild Rd, Charlotte. Memorial contributions be sent to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 230 East Ohio Street, Suite 304, Chicago, IL 60611.
