Susan Gerns Smith

Susan Gerns Smith, 68, of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away at home Friday, July 7, 2017 after a brief illness. 

She was born July 2, 1949 in Canton, Ohio to the late Norris and Shirley Smith  After  graduating from North Canton Hoover High in 1967, Susan went on to graduate from  Cornell University’s School of Hotel Management.  She remained an avid Bronco’s fan when she relocated from Denver to Charlotte in 1990.  As a member of Westminster Presbyterian church, she will be remembered for her excellent dinners she helped prepare. As an avid knitter and seamstress, she has touched many lives with her hand made projects as well as knitting classes.   

She is survived by her daughter, Lorie Floyd Butts (Jeff) of Fort Worth, TX, Brothers Stephen Smith (Susan) of Kensington, OH, Stuart Smith (Holly) of Dallas, TX and sister, Sally Smith of Jeffersonville, IN, granddaughter, Brittany Patch, grandson, Logan Patch as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins.
