Thomas Millbury Knowland, Jr.

Thomas M. Knowland, Jr., 91, of Charlotte, NC, passed away at home on December 23, 2016. A native of Belmont, Massachusetts, He was the first born son of Thomas M. Knowland and Hazel Weare Knowland. Mr. Knowland was preceded in death by both parents and his only brother.

Mr. Knowland attended Belmont, Massachusetts schools and graduated from the University of Maine, (BSME) following his service in the Naval Air Corps during World War II. He retired from Ingersoll Rand Co. after 44 years in Domestic and International Sales. He was active in the YMCA Indian Guide Programs and served as a Red Cross Transportation Volunteer upon retirement.

Surviving are his wife, Elaine Haskell Knowland, children; Kimberly K. Adcock (Berry), Madisonville, KY, Thomas H. Knowland (Danielle), Mooresville, NC and Andrew G. Knowland (Ami), Minneapolis, MN, five grandchildren; Lindsey A. Crowe (Jarrett), Madelyn K. Conlee (Brian), Caroline T. Knowland, Nicholas A. Vince, William C. Vince and, four great-grandchildren; Emma R. Crowe, Evan G. Crowe, Maxwell T. Conlee and Clara R. Conlee.

A gathering for family and friends is planned for December 31, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Plantation Estates Auditorium, 733 Plantation Estates Drive, Matthews, NC 28105.
