Ada Worthington Watson, age 87, of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away on August 27, 2019 at Carrington Place, Matthews, North Carolina.
Ada was born on December 21, 1931, in Kinston, North Carolina, the daughter of the late Jesse H. and Doris Worthington. She grew up on a farm in Kinston, where she was educated in the public schools and graduated with perfect attendance. In due course she received her Master's Degree from East Carolina College. She married Thomas Watson in 1954. Together they made their home and raised their four children, first in Fayetteville and then in Charlotte after moving there in 1971.
A member of Memorial United Methodist Church, Ada served in a number of volunteer positions and was a member of the Livingston Sunday School Class. She enjoyed spending time with her family, trips to the beach and lake, and her treasured genealogy research. Ada was a proud member of the DAR.
Ada was preceded in death by Thomas, her husband of 58 years, and her brother Charles. She is survived by her children Tom Watson Jr. (Mardy) of Mint Hill, Mike Watson (Debbie) of Concord, Randy Watson (Peggy Lukasik) of Mint Hill, and Karen Reynolds (Trip) of Matthews; grandchildren Amanda, Caleb, Virginia, Jay and Aaron; greatgrandchildren Maggie, Zenaid, and Bayleigh; and sisters-in-law Cynthia Worthington, Mary Watson, and Mary Helen Daniels.
Ada's family is grateful to both Carrington Place and Hospice and Palliative Care Charlotte Region for the care they provided to both Ada and her family.
The family will receive friends Saturday, August 31, 2019 from 10-11 a.m. at Memorial United Methodist Church, 4012 Central Avenue, Charlotte, with a service to follow at 11 a.m. in the Church Sanctuary. Interment will take place in Evergreen City Cemetery.
