Christa Cashion Obituary

Christa Philmon Cashion of Waxhaw, NC passed away early Sunday morning, September 2, 2018 at Matthews Novant Medical Center. She was born September 13, 1957 at Presbyterian Hospital and was proud to be a native Charlottean.

Chris graduated from East Mecklenburg High School in 1975, and worked as bookkeeper for Lance and other companies throughout her career. She loved spending time with family and friends and was a passionate Carolina Panthers fan. On game day she was always dressed in a jersey and ready to support her team.

Chris had fought through three breast cancer diagnoses and was an avid supporter of the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, having participated in each one for over 20 years. She was a proud member of Williams Warriors, the Komen team sponsored by DeAngelo Williams. She would attend the race every year proudly showing the pink ribbons for all the years she had survived.

Chris was a loyal friend to those she met, and enjoyed playing Bunco with lifelong friends.  She could often be found curled up with a good book and a cup of coffee (or Mountain Dew).

Chris was preceded in death by her father James D. Philmon and sister Cam Orr. She is survived by her husband, Bob Cashion of Waxhaw, daughter Lindsey Skidmore and husband Wyatt of Fletcher,  and daughter Alex Kachellek and husband Garrett of Charlotte, NC. She is also survived by her mother Sue Philmon of Matthews, sister Kelly Green and husband Dennis of Matthews, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins she loved dearly.

A Celebration of Chris’ life will be held Saturday September 8, 2018 at Stallings UMC at 3:30 pm. The church is located at 1115 Stallings Road, Matthews, NC 28104.

Memorials may be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation or the charity of your choice.
