Indian Trail, NC - Dana Owen “Doc” Cyr, our beloved “Pops”, 78, formerly of Danbury, CT, died
Friday, October 27, 2017 peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, following a brief
hospice care.
He leaves behind his wife and best friend of 57 years, Mary (Fairley) Cyr, his son Nicholas and
his wife Kim, his son Steven, his grandchildren Tim, Chris and Marybeth of San Antonio, TX and
Nicole and Alexander of Indian Trail, as well as 5 great-grandchildren, several nieces, especially
his beloved Donna (Cyr) Ferrone, her husband Jerry, and numerous treasured friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Vera, his father, Guy, his brothers, Guy and Richard,
his nephew Richard, and his beloved poodle, Murphy.
“Doc” retired from Kimberly-Clark in New Milford, CT, in 1999, after over 40 years of
employment.
Pops was a devoted husband, father and friend, who will always be remembered for sacrificing
for others. He set a daily example of kindness and generosity. He had an infectious laugh and
always strived to make others smile, making friends wherever he was, and always living “in the
moment”. The depth of loss felt by all who knew him is immeasurable.
The phenomenal care he received from Dr. Will Conner and his staff, as well as the Novant
Health Hospice staff, most notably Maggie, Pam, Ashley and Mario, will forever be remembered
and appreciated by his family.
Service will be held on Thursday, November 2nd, at 11:00 a.m. at Saint John Neumann Catholic
Church in Charlotte, NC with graveside service at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Mint Hill, NC
immediately following. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude
Children’s Research Hospital or the charity of your choice.
Do not stand by my grave and weep
I am not there, I do not sleep
I am the wind of the morning breeze
I am the sunshine filtering thru the trees
And while I am gone, I am still here
And when you need me, I will be by your side
To protect and guide you
Until we are together again
