Dianne Kay Patterson, 72, of Charlotte, passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at Levine-Dickson Hospice at Aldersgate. She was born in Tarentum, Pennsylvania on October 17, 1946 to the late John and Nina (Braham) McKenna. The family moved to Crestline, Ohio when Dianne was 16, and she later went on to graduate from Ohio State University in 1981, where she earned her Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice. In May of 1979 Dianne married Tom Patterson, whom she met in prison. They both worked in the prison system in administrative rolls. Though the Pattersons had no children of their own , Dianne helped raise 13 boys in a youth program.
She loved dogs and penguins. Diane enjoyed bowling, Ohio State Football, Pittsburgh Pirate Baseball. She was and avid reader and a champion TRIVIA player. She was also a member of Grace Crossing Church.
Dianne is survived by her husband of 40 years Thomas, brother and sister in law Robert and Mindy McKenna of Crestline, Ohio; brother in law and sister in law Butch and Kathy Patterson of Ashboro, North Carolina; mother in law Louise Patterson of Ashboro, North Carolina, aunt Betty McKenna of Natrona Hills, Pennsylvania. Also surviving are nieces Erin McKenna, Cassandra Patterson, and 3 grandnephews Josh, Justin and Corey. In keeping with her love of pets, Dianne also leaves behind her 4 legged nephew "Harley" and her 4 legged niece "Sofie".
Besides her parents, Dianne was preceded in death by her sister Pamela G. Thorn; uncle Robert McKenna; father in law Francis " Bud" Patterson; and her 4 legged best friend "Wojo"
A gathering of family and friends will take place on Saturday, July 27th at Grace Crossing Baptist Church, 5600 Rocky River Rd, Charlotte from 11AM-12Noon with a service to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace Crossing Baptist Church, 5600 Rocky River Rd, Charlotte, North Carolina, 28215.
