Francisco Javier Christiansen, affectionately known as ‘Frank’ of Charlotte and passed away on Friday, February 16, 2018 at home after a 2-year battle with cancer.
Frank was born December 17, 1958 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He graduated from A.C. Reynolds in Asheville, NC in 1977 and was known for his athletic ability in football. Frank was an avid sports fan and was known for his affinity for Carolina Tarheels basketball, Carolina Panthers football and The Charlotte Hornets . He watched his last Game, Tarheels vs NC State with Stevie Rogers. He was so happy that they defeated NC State. He was also an avid Nascar fan and loved Dale Earnhardt and Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Frank was well known in the community for his willingness to help his friends and family whenever and wherever possible. He had a kind heart, a generous spirit, and a smile that could brighten any room. He will be remembered for his integrity, honesty, and no-nonsense attitude in solving problems. Frank most definitely would tell you what you needed to hear, not necessarily what you wanted to hear.
Frank was also very proud of Beth’s son, Brandon Watson, he watched him grow from an 8 year old child into the fine, 31 year old man he is today. Frank was a great influence on his life. There was a special furry friend, Bella, a dog who was of great comfort to him over these past few years. She never left his side.
Frank was preceded in death by his father, Edward Paul Christiansen and is survived by his life partner, Beth Watson of Charlotte; mother, Digna Marin Christiansen of Hickory; brother Miguel Christiansen of Hickory; sister, Dianne Christiansen Frank and her spouse, Joseph Frank of Hickory; his aunts, uncles, loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
