Frona Myrtle Crymes, at the age of 95, passed peacefully from this world on November 29th, 2018. She was the daughter of Mallie Chrisawn and Melvin Avery Hughes, and the wife of Houston Thomas Crymes who predeceased her. Myrtle was the mother of one daughter, Donna C. Krohn (Melvin Krohn), and the grandmother of Scott Stevenson Greenway (Monica Browne), Samuel Stuart Greenway (Sandra), Samuel Stanford Greenway (Maureen), and Shannon G. Perez (Alfonso Perez). She was the Great-Grandmother of Kathryn B. Greenway, Kari B. Greenway, who predeceased her, and Saxon Sa-Greenway.
Born in Burnsville, NC in 1923, she was a lifelong resident of Asheville, NC. Myrtle was predeceased by two brothers, Calvin and Reid Hughes, and four sisters, Allie Hughes, Avie Owenby, Addie Blankenship, and Grace Hawkins. Surviving are sisters, Agnes Kent, Mary Corn, Anna Ward, and Hope Reeves.
Myrtle was known as “Bill” to her family, she loved cooking for family and friends and made fresh coconut cakes and potatoes salad like no other. Her hands were always busy sewing, crocheting, tending her garden and making preserves. She was feisty and independent with a fierce love for family. We thank God for her life and for her productive little hands.
