James "Bill" William Carver

James William (Bill) Carver 83, of Charlotte NC died on Friday February 23, 2018 at home peacefully.

A native of Cumberland County, NC, Bill was the son of Emma Ruth and Edward Carver. He was also preceded in death by his brother Sonny and his sisters, Ann and Tootsie.

Bill graduated from Hope Mills High School, then went on to acquire his bachelor’s degree from NC State in Civil Engineering. He was the first in his family to graduate from college.  

Bill served his country in the Air Force. He then worked for the City of Charlotte, Ralph Whitehead and Associates, and JA Jones Construction Company. He worked on projects in Saudi Arabia and in the Dominican Republic. Bill then created his own company, Carver Construction Company where he thrived for a number of years and provided opportunities for many.

Bill was a faithful and loyal member of Living Saviour Lutheran Church and he served the church on many committees. He also served on the Board of Directors at Providence Day School and with the HOA of Ballantyne Commons.

Bill is survived by his wife of 54 years, Cornelia (Corky) Carver. Son, Pat Carver and his wife Laura of Asheville, NC. Daughter, Amy Carver and her significant other, Paul. Three Grandchildren, Owen, Alex, and Emma of Asheville, NC and his beloved dog, Dolly.

Services will be held at 1pm on March 3, 2018 at Living Saviour Lutheran Church located at 6817 Carmel Rd, Charlotte NC 28226.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Living Saviour Lutheran Church.
