Jesse Holmes Rainey, known to friends and family as "Paw-Paw," passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 21, 2018, at the age of 89. Jesse taught his family a strong work ethic, not to spend money they don’t have and that dessert can fix almost anything in life. He was a simple man who loved the Lord. He may have lost his memory in the last few years however he never lost his quick wit and hysterical one-liners. And his face still lit up when we brought him a donut!
A native of Travelers Rest, SC Jesse grew up on a family farm with his parents and 6 siblings. Jesse was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years Ethel Rainey. He is survived by his siblings, Helen, Shelby, Jerry and Jason as well as his children Dwight and Donna, 3 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Jesse’s life will be held on Thursday, May 24, at 11 a.m. at Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Rd, Mint Hill, NC 28227. Visitation will be from 10:00-10:45am in the Sunset Memory Gardens Chapel. Carolina Funeral Service & Cremation Center is entrusted with the arrangements (carolinafuneral.com)
