Lois Virginia Russell

Lois Virginia Russell of Charlotte, passed away Saturday November 23rd, 2019 with her family and friends by her side.  Born July 10, 1931 in Lumberton, North Carolina, Lois was the daughter of the late Pete and Archie McNeill Russell.  She grew up in the Floral College Community near Maxton, North Carolina.  She graduated from Maxton High School, Kings Business College and the former Charlotte Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1961.

She retired from full time nursing in July 1997 and went to work part time for Dr. John Lacature.  She retired in November 2017.  

Miss Russell is survived by her nephews  Douglas H. Russell wife Teresa of Maxton, NC, and David A. Russell and wife Gail of Hamlet, NC; niece Anita R. Brunson and husband Mac of Laurinburg, NC, as well as several great nieces and nephews.  She also leaves her  nursing family, Frances Williams, Marcia Harris, Laura Hart, Angela Hallman and Cheryl Kuhta-Sutter, whom she loved very much.  

Lois was a faithful member of Eastway Baptist Church in Charlotte for many years.  she was a vital part of the "Young At Heart" Sunday School Class and Social Committee as well as being actively involved in the ESL Class held at the church. ( attended by many of the Montagnard congregation ).  Her church was very dear to her heart.

Services for Miss Russell will be held on Wednesday, November 27th at Eastway Baptist Church with visitation from 12-1 PM with a service to follow.  The service will be officiated by Rev. David Gales and Rev. Johnny Helms.  Interment will take place at Evergreen City Cemetery.  At the request of Miss Russell, in lieu of flowers. please make a donation to a charity of one's choice.,
