Louise Lewis Painter

Louise Lewis Painter was born on February 28, 1922 in Huntsville Alabama, the daughter of Ross Samuel Lewis and Mamie Holleman Lewis.  She grew up in Columbus, Mississippi, where she met her future husband, William Mitchell Painter, when they were eleven years old.  She and William were married in 1944.  They spent the last forty years in Charlotte, North Carolina together until William’s death in March, 2008.
Her main pleasure was from her children who survive her: Ross Lawrence and wife Judy Elfen, William Mitchell, Jr. and wife Grace Nicholson, Samuel Eliot and wife Cathey Clack and her grandchildren: Ross Lawrence, Jr and wife Nicole Kleines, Daniel Elfen and wife Whitney Martin, Michael Richard and wife Kelly Doyle, Olivia Louise and Samuel Eliot, Jr. She is also survived by four great grandchildren, William, Oliver, Ross and Sophia as well as Thomas, who is on his way for a May delivery.  Lousie is also survived by her nephews Rowe Rhett, Jr., Glen Rhett, and Robert Rhett.  Her only sister, Betty Lewis Rhett died in 1990.
A memorial service to celebrate Louise’s life will be held at Trinity Presbyterian Church on January 5th at 2:00 p.m.
