Lucille (Guarino) Montesano

Lucille Montesano, age 99, passed away on November 4, 2019 at the Brookdale Carriage Club.  She was born on October 20, 1920 to the late Michael and Josephine Guarino in Kansas City, Missouri.  In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband of 65 years Santo Montesano; sisters Jennie Cirlen, Mary Passiglia and her brother Paul Guarino.  

Mrs. Montesano was a devoted member of Christ Presbyterian Church in Kansas City from the 1930s until she and her husband relocated to Charlotte, NC in 2005.  She enjoyed reading a wide range of books, the newspaper and the Bible were part of her daily routine. She loved the challenge of solving the Jumble puzzle each day and being first at solving the phrases and questions for Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. 

She was a wonderful cook.  Sunday afternoon dinner following Church was always a special occasion as guests were treated with her pasta, meatballs, sausage and other delicious sides. Each Christmas she enjoyed making Italian cookies for family and friends that she gave as gifts.

She is survived by her daughters Madeline Stevens and husband Gerald (Atlanta), Sharon Stephens and husband Darrel (Charlotte); grandchildren Gregory Stevens and wife Tracey (Chattanooga), Brian Stephens and wife Susan (Charlotte), Adrienne Menzel and husband Scott (Atlanta); great grandchildren Maggie and Jack Stevens and William and Elliott Menzel. 

A Memorial Service to celebrate Lucille's life will be held Thursday, November 7th at 12:30 PM at Carolina Funeral Service & Cremation Center 5505 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC with Pastor Daren McGrew officiating. A private burial will be held prior to the memorial for the family.
