Paul Colby James

Paul Colby James passed away peacefully in his home on January 2, 2018. He was 81 years old.

Paul was born on April 14, 1936 in Miami, Florida He was the son of the late Herbert and Lillo James. After graduating from Miami High School, Paul received a bachelors degree from Florida International University. He continued to challenge himself academically by receiving a second degree from UNC Charlotte at the age of 76. Paul worked as a Certified Records Manager in both the private and public sector.

His leisure time was spent as an active member of the Charlotte Rifle and Pistol Club where he developed friendships that were a source of great stories, jokes and memories. Paul was an avid reader and seeker of knowledge which he was always anxious to share with others. Most important to Paul was his wife and family who he loved unconditionally.

Paul is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dorothy Holland James; his daughter Dorothy (Bart) Ingram; his son Paul James II (Liz), and his 3 wonderful granddaughters Caroline, Morgan and Colby.

A private celebration of Paul’s life will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Charlotte Rifle and Pistol Club (CR&PC), Attn: Treasurer, P.O. Box 2390, Matthews, NC 28106.
