Ray Wandell Barnes

Ray Wandell Barnes, 83, of Matthews, North Carolina passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, April 1, 2018.  He was the son of the late Ray Leslie Barnes and Mozelle Boykin Barnes and spent his early years in South Carolina before moving to Charlotte, North Carolina after serving in the United States Army.  He worked for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools in the maintenance department for 33 years.  He enjoyed the privilege of  Christian fellowship meetings in his home for 50 years.

He is survived by his loving wife  Lennie G. Barnes; daughter Wanda B. Coleman and husband Joe; son Ray D. Barnes and wife Amy.  Also surviving are his brother Arthur Barnes and wife Carol; sister Linda Miller and husband Don; and grandchildren Elisabeth Bloemker and husband Andrew and Abraham Coleman and wife Sharon.

The family will receive friends on Friday, April 6th from 9-11AM at Carolina Funeral Service & Cremation Center, 5505 Monroe Rd, Charlotte.  A graveside service will follow at 11:15 AM in Sharon Memorial Park.
