Shirley Mae Lyons: A Life Remembered             

Shirley Mae Lyons was born August 17, 1947 to Montgomery Lyons Sr. and Lillian Brodie in the State of North Carolina.  Shirley was the youngest of eight children.  From an early age, Shirley was a person who loved life and loved the Lord.  Shirley was raised in North Carolina and later moved to Pittsburgh, PA where she had one daughter, Nikki G. Copeland.  Shirley spent her life as a hair stylist and service worker who helped many people and made many friends.  In 1995, Shirley moved to the Washington DC area where she continued her career as a service worker.

Shirley was blessed with two grandchildren, Jeff Copeland Jr. (2001) & Jayden Copeland (2011). Nikki married Jeff Copeland Sr. in 2010 and her family was extended.  Shirley enjoyed raising her grandchildren and being an instrumental part of their upbringing to include early care taker for both boys.  Family was important to Shirley and raising her grandchildren gave her peace and happiness.  Her two grandchildren where the joys of her life.

Shirley spent her final years in Charlotte, North Carolina as a homemaker, grandmother and family matriarch.  Shirley leaves behind a Daughter, Nikki Copeland, Son in law Jeff Copeland, two grandchildren, six siblings in Maryland, North Carolina and Pittsburgh and various nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 21st at 9:00 AM at Carolina Funeral Service & Cremation Center, 5505 Monroe Rd, Charlotte.  After the service (Repass information)

There will be a dinner (cookout) at the home of Jeff and Nikki Copeland.Please come hungry and ready to eat. Time: 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m  The address: 5331 Timberbluff Drive,
