Met Steve after he married my cousin, Donna Newlands. Fantastic personality and kindness to all - family mattered to him - enjoyed his company - visited with them for a while - tragic loss to all - Maryann

What began as a business relationship at Sea-Land, grew into a close long term friendship. Here's to you Steve....to the business trips we took together, to our fishing trips, and the other good times and memories we shared.....Rest in Peace my friend, you are missed....

We were beyond shocked of this news. Steve was a kind and funny man, and a wonderful neighbor. He helped us watching our house while we were away for months. His attention to details showed he cared about the people around him. We missed Steve, his laugh and his kindness. Our heart goes to his dear wife Donna, mother, sister and brother and extended family. He will be forever missed.

Wow--hard to believe. We had just talked several days earlier about his upcoming 'bucket list" ride to Yellowstone and Mt Rushmore. We grew up together thru kindergarten, elementary and high school doing the things most young kids experienced with school, church and Boy Scouts. Separated at college by 40 miles-- he was a Duck in Eugene while I was a Beaver at Oregon State. We kept in contact over the years since then, more frequently now with emails and cell phones. Going to miss him. Condolences to the families in Hawaii and on the mainland.

It was a shock to hear of Steve's passing: he was such a kind, caring, gentle soul, & always looking out for everyone. He loved being out on two wheels, as much as he loved sharing good conversation, food, card tricks, & laugh with good friends! And he always made sure folks new to the riding group felt welcomed, & valued. Steve, we'll miss you, but know you're free, after such a wonderful life. Ride in Peace, my friend.

Steve was a colleague and friend. He was one of the most considerate and honorable persons I've known. I will always remember how he helped my son produce a video honoring veterans for a school project.
Also remembered are the numerous times he provided guidance and advice to me during our time at Sea-Land and Maersk. RIP Steve.

We loved Steve. He was a kind intelligent and funny man. He loved his family above all, especially his dear daughters , Shelley and Stacey who was able to watch grow up into beautiful . Intelligent and independent women. My heart goes to his dear mother, sister and brother and extended family. He will be missed but I'll always remember his big generous smile.
