Anna Elisabeth Dowdy

Anna Elisabeth Dowdy, 41, of Monroe, NC passed away on March 1, 2026 at home.

Anna was born on July 30, 1984. She is survived by her stepfather and stepmother, James Donald (Don) and Bobbie Hall, of Monroe; her stepmother, Tina Dowdy, of Monroe; her step-sister Rebekah Hall Miller; her step-brother, James Donald Hall III (Tripp); her half-sister, Tara Williams; her aunt, Donna Capps Ritter of Sharon, SC; her uncle and aunt, Mike and Dana Capps of Harkers Island, NC, her aunts, Vickie Dowdy Geary and Jane Dowdy Collins; a niece and several nephews including James McNamara of Charlotte, NC and several cousins including Jayce Laney and Jaxson Laney of Sharon, SC.

Anna was preceded in death by her father, Chuck Dowdy; her mother, Michelle Hall, her brother, Jonathan Dowdy and her grandparents, including Frances Capps Moser.

Anna got her undergraduate degree from Wingate University and her Juris Doctor degree from Wake Forest University. She was an attorney for many years, the majority being with the Union County Public Defender’s office and the Union County District Attorney’s office. She was a member of Immanuel’s Church in Monroe and a member of the Monroe Historic District Committee.

Anna was known for her green thumb, her life-long love of Holden Beach, the love for her dog, Lily, her DIY abilities and her devotion to loved ones. She was loved by the legal community of Union County, NC.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 7 at 11:00 am at Living Way Church, 5501 Old Monroe Rd., Indian Trail, NC. In lieu of flowers, friends may make a donation to her church: Immanuel’s of Union County at the service or mail to 1001 Memory Lane, Monroe, NC, 28112.
