Betty Cline Obituary

Betty Wilborn Cline, 91, of Charlotte, passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 30th, 2023 after a lengthy battle with alzheimer's disease

Betty was born on November 5th, 1931 in Thomaston, GA to the late Willie Carson Wilborn and Meda Miller Wilborn. Betty was one of five children and the eldest daughter. Betty moved to Charlotte at a young age, where she continued to live for most of her life.

Betty graduated from Charlotte Tech High School in 1949 and went on to marry her future husband, the late Ben L. Cline Sr. in 1950, with whom she later had two children. Out of all the things Betty enjoyed in life, spending time with her family was one of her favorites.

Betty was a member of A New Day Church of Jesus Christ - Apostolic since its inception in 2015, but was previously a member of The Church of Jesus Christ - Apostolic for many years. Along with her family, Betty also gained many friends and family members in the church throughout her life.

Betty always had a witty comment or funny phrase that could light up a room, in any situation. Betty was a friend to all,  a mother to many, and a grandmother to even more. And if she liked you, she made sure you knew.

In addition to spending time with her family and friends, one of Betty’s favorite pastimes was cooking and baking. If she wasn’t chatting on the phone or watching the Hallmark channel, she was whipping up a lasagna or a homemade chocolate pound cake, her signature dishes.

Along with her parents, Betty is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Ben L. Cline Sr., her daughter, Benita Lanier, her Brothers Billy and Wayne Wilborn, and her sister, Faye Joan Taylor.

Betty is survived by her sister, June Eason, of Narrows, VA, her son, Rev. Ben L. Cline Jr., and his wife Becky, both of Charlotte, her long-time son-in-law, Rev. Danny Lanier, of Charlotte, Her grandson, Blake Cline, of Berkeley, California, her granddaughter, Casey Cline Bradford, and her husband Timothy, both of Charlotte, grandson Jordan Lanier, of Harrisburg, NC, and grandson Hunter Lanier, of Charlotte, her great-granddaughter Chloe Fischer Cline of Belo Horizonte, Brazil, great-grandsons Gavin and Jacob McIntyre, both of Charlotte, great-grandson Gray Lanier, and his mother Rachel, both of Harrisburg, NC,. and her great great grandson Zaiden Brown, of Charlotte. Betty is also survived by a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, her family in Virginia, and her church family.
