Betty Brady Simmons of Mint Hill died on Sunday, December 6, 20290 Widow of Edward Parker Simmons.
Mrs. Simmons was born on January 29, 1932 in Lavonia GA, Son: Donnie Lee Simmons (Lauren), Step-son: John Simmons (Wanda), Step-Daughter: Betty Simmons Maddry (Jimmy), Grandchildren: Nevaeh Simmons, Edward Fincher (Cassie), Angela Wolkow (Tim), Step-Grandchildren: Molly Simmons Ellington (Keith), Fallon Maddry Stallings (Matt), Six Great-Grandchildren, and five Step-Great-Grandchildren.
Betty is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years Edward P. Simmons, her daughter Tamara Simmons Fincher, parents Freeman and Inez Tucker Brady and 7 Siblings.
She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church at 7841 Idlewild RD, Charlotte, NC for over 40 years. During most of those years she served as a Sunday School teacher for children and other children’s ministries.
Mrs. Simmons graduated in 1949 from Toccoa High School in Toccoa, Ga, and worked mostly as a Medical Secretary.
Due to her concern and love for family and friends, it is Betty’s request to forego a memorial, funeral, or any kind of gathering in her honor. She is concerned about anyone getting the Virus and that it would not be safe.
She loves all of you very much and appreciates your love for her through the years and would not want anyone getting sick because of you coming to a service for her.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to New Hope Baptist Church Children’s Ministry, 7841 Idlewild Rd., Charlotte, NC, 28212. God and Family was always a top priority in Betty’s life.
She Loved and appreciated her pastor and church family at new Hope Baptist Church & a special thank you to all the staff at Novant Hospice Care.
