Cynthia Turtletaub Obituary

Cynthia Brustin Turtletaub, 91 years old, of Charlotte, North Carolina,  passed away peacefully on May 23, 2024 from natural causes. Her lifelong husband Harold passed away in 2023 from Alzheimer's.  Cynthia was a loving wife and provided excellent care giving to Harold during his long battle with the disease.  Cynthia is survived by her three sons David (wife Melanie), Philip (wife Diana) and Lee (wife Ashley) and her grandchildren Caitlyn (husband Michael), Lindsey (husband Sean), Isaac, Isabella and Brooke, along with great grandchildren Callie, Brielle and Aris. She is also survived by loving sister Florence Brustin Levine (husband Burt).

Cynthia was born in Hudson, NJ and grew-up in that state.  She graduated from Jersey City State College with a degree in Education and moved to Miami, FL in the late fifties with Harold and spent her entire professional career working as an elementary school teacher at Coral Park Elementary school. Cynthia was a dedicated mother raising her three sons who were all college graduates and who have had successful long-time careers and long-term marriages.  In addition, she was equally proud of the fact that three of her grandchildren are college graduates with the other one well on her way to obtain a university degree.

She spent most of her adult life in South Florida and lived her last 22 years in Charlotte, NC.  After retirement, she and Harold spent practically every summer at their home in Vail, CO.  She was fortunate to be able to see much of the world with Harold and particularly enjoyed cruises. Cynthia also volunteered her time in the community for the Belk Theater, Mint Museum, Jewish Community Center and for numerous other organizations in Charlotte and Miami. Cynthia and Harold were active members of Chabad of Charlotte for many years. She strongly believed in giving back to the community and was a long-time supporter of Jewish causes and the State of Israel.  Cynthia also enjoyed painting as a hobby and also exercised in the gym on a frequent basis in addition to doing long walks.

She made friends wherever she went and always wanted to maintain her independence as long as she possibly could.   When Cynthia was asked to summarize her personal life accomplishments, she responded with listing her lifelong, happy marriage to husband and best-friend Harold, raising three successful sons by being a dedicated caring mother, spending time with her grandchildren, enjoying being very active physically, community volunteer, caring daughter to mother and father and providing a secure emotional base to her family. Cynthia was truly a unique person and will be greatly missed by all.
