Dear Family, Extended Family and Friends;
Thank you for coming to celebrate Rick's life. He loved the Lord, his church and the life-long friends he has made here. Rick always said this was his church, because his parents were charter members.
Even when he was a young boy in Sunday School, one of his former teachers Mary Ann LeGrand said he was so active (a nice way of saying he was always in trouble) that she had to give him papers to hand out to the students. Then, Rick would go back around telling them what to do. He always wanted to do something for "his church" rather it be making repairs or leading a team of Methodist Men in cooking and preparing some 60 Boston Butts for the Saturday before Thanksgiving every year. Rick was honored as "Man of the Year".
He loved his Boy Scouts. He worked along side of David Hampton for over 28 years making sure their mascot Sara Tingle had a popsicle when Bill Tingle would bring Sara to Scouts.
But Rick's greatest pride and joy was when our son Michael achieved the highest rank of Eagle Scout and received a Letter of Accommodation from our Congressman along with the American Flag that had been flown over the White House.
Today when you sing the song "Blessed Assurance" please know the faith that Rick had in our Savior and Lord. He sang this song recently along with one of the chaplains at Novant Hospital.
Thank you for being a part of Rick's wonderful home going. You are loved and appreciated. Judy
Mr. Ricketts is survived by his wife Judy; son Michael and wife Michelle, his grandchildren Lauren and Jonathan and sisters Linda Yarborough and Vickie Belcher and her husband Tom.
