David Brodrick Obituary

David George Brodrick June 22, 1957 -December 22, 2025 David Brodrick, 68, was a man with a big heart, a quick wit, and a loyal soul. Clever, creative, and genuinely funny, David had a rare gift for making people feel comfortable, appreciated, and at ease. He was thoughtful, generous, and fiercely devoted to his family and friends, qualities that defined both his life and the relationships he cherished most. He was born on June 22, 1957, in Worcester, Massachusetts, and later moved with his family to Charlotte, North Carolina, where many of his long-lasting friendships were formed. He attended St. Gabriel's Catholic School and South Mecklenburg High School and proudly served his country in the United States Navy. David held his faith quietly and sincerely throughout his life. He loved reading, especially westerns, and was a wonderful cook and true grill master. He took great pride in remodeling his home, working with his hands, and collecting things that sparked his interest. David had a special gift with dogs and could train them better than anyone. Luna never left his side. David was a devoted fan of the Georgia Bulldogs (go dawgs) and to his best friend and love of his life Cathy, affectionately known as “The David Whisperer,” who was always there for him. David was preceded in death by his loving parents, George and Marlene Brodrick, and his brother, Tommy. He is survived by his brothers Rick (Mary Margaret) and Alan, his sisters Diane (Larry) and Amy (Don), as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and his uncle, all of whom he loved dearly. David will be remembered for his quiet faith, his deep love for family, his unwavering loyalty to friends, and his generous spirit. His humor, kindness, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him. The funeral mass will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at 11 am at the Chapel of St. Matthews Catholic Church, 8015 Ballantyne Commons Parkway, Charlotte, NC 28277.
