Doris Mae (Nance) Lewis

Doris Nance Lewis passed into Glory on Tuesday, January 11, 2022. She was surrounded by her loving family. Doris was born on December 01, 1920 during a pandemic. At 101 years old she lived a long, happy life in the Charlotte area. She was the youngest child of Henry and Lily Nance.

Doris is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Margaret Pritchard, grandson, Michael A. Lewis, as well as her husband, Russell C. Lewis Sr.

Along with her husband, they owned and operated Lewis’ Restaurant on Eastway Drive until 1972.  She retired to become a stay at home mom, the job she loved best. She enjoyed her close community of friends and spending time with her family and friends. Her favorite things were babies and chocolate, not necessarily in that order. She will forever be remembered for having Hershey kisses within reach at all times.

Doris is survived by her sons, Russell C. Lewis, Jr (Carol), Michael N. Lewis (Anne), and Shawn H. Lewis (Sally). Daughters, Pamela Dunford and Melissa Ford as well as grandchildren, Brittany, Shawn Jr, Jennifer, Hannah, Steven, Samantha, Christian, MacKenzie, and 14 great-grandchildren.

A private graveside service will be held at Forest Lawn West.
