Elizabeth “Betsy” Marie Coulon, 73, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2025 in Charlotte, NC.

Betsy was born in Fulton, NY.  She attended Oswego Catholic High School in Oswego, NY. After graduation, she moved with her family to Wilmington, NC.  Betsy furthered her education by attending UNC Wilmington and UNC Chapel Hill.  She also resided in many places, including Roanoke, VA; Charleston, SC; Durham, NC; Lowell, MI; Harrisburg, NC; and Charlotte, NC.

Betsy worked as an administrative assistant at several places over the years, including GE, where she made several friends, and at Duke Medical Center.

She was passionate about various activities, including the restoration of the Old Harrisburg Post Office, sewing, home improvement projects, and gardening. She enjoyed cooking and especially baking.

Betsy had a special place in her heart for her pets.  Wilson, Callie, Maggie and Billy, a beloved friend from Carolina Poodle Rescue, were all great companions.

Betsy is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Wootton Nastiuk (Glenn); her siblings, Barbara Mercante (Jim), Paul Coulon, Suzanne White (Paul), and Betty Lewis (Frank); her grandchildren, Zach Nastiuk and Vix Nastiuk; and her nieces and nephews, Elisabeth Mercante Pearson, Erin White, Lacey Piner, and Norman Lewis. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edythe and Vincent Coulon, stepmother Louise Coulon, and her daughter, Julie Wootton.

A memorial service will take place on August 2 at 10:00 AM under the shelter at Harris Depot Park, 6960 Robinson Church Rd, Harrisburg, NC 28075, followed by a reception at 12:00 PM at The Auto Pour, 5033 South Blvd, Unit O, Charlotte, NC 28217.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Carolina Poodle Rescue and the Carolinas Melanoma & Immunotherapy Fund at Atrium Health Foundation.
