Evelyn Crater Lee of Matthews, died Thursday, December 15 after a brief illness. Born on July 11, 1925 in Iredell County, Evelyn was the daughter of the late roy and Mamie Crater. She graduated from Union Grove High School and attended Draughon Business College in Winston-Salem and Ashmore Business College in Thomasville.
Mrs. Lee was employed in personnel at High Point College, Tomlinson Furniture in High Point and at Harris Teeter. She was an active member of Matthews United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class.
Besides her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by her brother Edward Crater, sister Odena Wallace, daughter Dr. Kathleen Lee-Stevens. Surviving family members are her daughter Janie lee Thompson
(Bill Thompson), daughter Dr. Sandi Lee and son in law Dr. Bill Stevens.
On Tuesday, December 20th there will be a visitation a 10AM visitation at Matthews United Methodist Church. Dr Charles Wilson, Senior Pastor, will officate the funeral service at 11AM. Burial will take place in ther Grassy Knob Cemetery, Union Grove, NC.
