Gail Honeycutt Helms, 75, of Charlotte, NC, passed away after a courageous battle with breast cancer on Friday, January 21, 2022, surrounded by her family. Born in Charlotte, NC on December 24,1946, she was preceded in death by her parents, James Fred Honeycutt and Ruby Gertrude Honeycutt, as well as her daughter, Dawn Helms.
She is survived by her son and daughter, Rick Helms and Renee Davey, as well as her son-in-law Kelly Davey. Also surviving is her sister Freda Honeycutt Montgomery and her pride and joy, her three beautiful grandchildren, Blair Helms, Marissa Helms, and Sarah Davey.
Ms. Helms attended Grace Crossing Baptist Fellowship (formerly Allen Street Baptist) since she was a child. She had been working with the American Red Cross since 2017, however, her main job and proudest achievement was being an incredible mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
Gail was a determined, strong, and independent woman, fighting for what she believed was right, but not allowing that strength to interfere with her caring and generous nature. Those closest to her will remember her through her signature that accompanied her numerous emails (Love Mom, Gigi, and Gail), for the three kisses at the end of each phone call, and for the warmth that she carried with her wherever she would go.
Near the end of her life, she remained fearless and relentless in her battle with breast cancer. Never did her thoughtful, kindhearted, or attentive disposition falter.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 29th, 2022, at Grace Crossing Baptist Fellowship. Family visitation will begin at 1:00 pm followed by the Memorial Service at 2:00 pm.
The Service will also be available online via https://www.facebook.com/gracecrossingcharlotte the Grace Crossing Baptist Fellowship
