Henry L. Haithcox Jr.

Henry L. Haithcox Jr. passed away on January 30, 2018 at his home on Mt. Island Lake. He was born July 27th, 1942 in Charlotte, NC. Henry grew up in the Plaza Midwood section of Charlotte and attended Charlotte Public Schools. He was a graduate of Garinger High School and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a degree in Social Work. Henry served 4 years in the US Navy Medical Corp in Great Lakes, Illinois and retired from the Mecklenburg County Parks and Recreation Department in 2013.

Henry was an avid outdoorsman and loves all activities that took him outside to enjoy the beauty of nature. His passions were hiking, camping, biking, and canoeing.  He was a staunch conservationist and environmentalist and lived his life to leave as small a footprint on the earth as possible.

Henry was proceeded in death by his parents Henry L. Haithcox Sr. and Evelyn Hurt Haithcox.  He is survived by two sisters, Marquita Stewart of Charlotte, Peggy Simon of Columbia, S.C., and 3 nieces and 3 nephews.
