Hunter Garrett Lanier

 Hunter Garrett Lanier 
January 28th, 1987 - November 10th, 2025 

Hunter Lanier, of Charlotte, passed away peacefully in his sleep on the morning of November 10th, 2025, at the age of 38. The son of Danny Ray Lanier and the late Benita Cline Lanier, Hunter grew up in the Shannon Park Neighborhood of Charlotte, a place he continued to call home all his life. Hunter attended Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and was a student at East Mecklenburg High. He graduated from homeschool. Hunter spent his childhood playing sports at Methodist Home Recreation Center and visiting Lake Tillery in Mt. Gilead, NC. Growing up, Hunter spent a lot of time with his friends, some of whom he continued to be close with throughout his life. 

Among other things, Hunter was a very hard worker and a great cook, once being titled best bagel maker in Charlotte, while working for Bruegger’s and Poppy’s bagels simultaneously. Hunter was also an avid gamer. Hunter was a free spirit, a kind friend, and always the life of the party.  Hunter was the kind of person that you couldn’t help but love, and that sentiment only grew the more you got to know him. 

He is survived by his father, Reverend Danny Ray Lanier, of Charlotte, brother Jordan Lanier, of Lake Park NC, uncle Reverend Ben Cline Jr. and aunt Becky Cline, aunts Vickie Ballard of Union County, NC, Janine Yvars of Concord NC, and Sheila Thornton of Harrisburg NC, cousins Casey Bradford (Timothy) of Charlotte and Blake Cline of California, along with cousins Gavin McIntyre and Jacob Cline, both of Charlotte as well. Hunter is also survived by his nephew, Gray Lanier, of Harrisburg NC. In addition to immediate family, Hunter is survived by his close childhood friends Chris Gillespie and Brent Hodge, along with his extended family in Virginia and Georgia. 

Services for Hunter will take place on Saturday, November 22nd, visitation beginning at 3p.m. and a memorial service following at 4p.m. Services will be conducted at Carolina Funeral Service & Cremation Center, 5505 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC, 28212.
