Jean (Estes) Robertson

Martha Jean Robertson, age 93, of Charlotte, NC was called home by God on August 29, 2020.  She had a long, full life and she will be missed.  
She had seen a lot of changes in her lifetime.  Born in Nashville, TN in 1926, daughter of William Mack Estes and Rugie (Street) Estes she always said she had a great childhood, even in very tough times.  She developed a strong faith in God, and learned to be practical and independent at a very young age.   From her Dad, she learned to fix cars, hunt squirrels, ride horses, and handle any tool she was given.  From her Mother she learned sewing and needlework, grace, manners, and how to be a lady.   
In high school, during WWII, she became involved in ROTC and had dreams of going into the military and becoming a JAG officer (in a time when it was rare for a woman to aspire to those goals).  But God had other plans for her and led her to the man who would become her husband, Louis D. Robertson, an Airforce pilot.  They married in 1944 and remained married for the next 55 years, in both good and difficult times, until his death on August 18, 1998.  A dedicated housewife and mother during those years, after his death she remained committed to his memory and stayed in the home she loved for the rest of her life.   
She died at home surrounded by family, as she had wanted.  She is survived by her three children, Louis Robertson Jr., Michol Little, and Vickie Meacomes, her 7 grandchildren, and her 18 great grandchildren.  The family will have an open house at her home in Charlotte, on September 12, 2020 between 1-4 pm for anyone who wants to drop by.
