Joann Crump, age 91, passed away at home on Saturday December 14, 2024, in Charlotte, NC. Born on October 8, 1933, Joann was a spirited and nurturing figure, known for her outspoken nature and immense generosity. Throughout her life, she provided a loving home to family members and friends in need of a place to live due to unforeseen circumstances, embodying a spirit of kindness and resilience.
Joann devoted over 70 years to The Church Of Jesus Christ Apostolic, reflecting her deep faith and commitment to her community. Her professional life was spent at Southeastern Pleating and Trimming, where she worked diligently as a hemmer. Despite having to leave school in the 10th grade to care for her terminally ill mother and younger siblings, Joann's fierce independence and strong work ethic shone through in every aspect of her life.
She had a love for fishing and NASCAR enthusiast, Joann found joy and relaxation in her hobbies, which she shared with her close-knit family and friends. Joann's life was rich with personal relationships. She was a cherished mother to Diane Taylor (Raymond), Clarice Williams, and Chucky Crump (Barbara). She was also a loving sister to Jean McClure (Willie), and Lucille Hough and brother Charles Henderson Her legacy extends to her three grandchildren Pete Taylor, Kenneth Taylor and Duane Williams, nine great-grandchildren, Shelby Williams, Richard Williams. Brittany Taylor Elizabeth Taylor, Austin Taylor Joseph (JT) Taylor, Joshua Taylor, Sabrina Taylor and Randi Storm Chatelain and three great-great-grandchildren Ariana Williams, Joanna Taylor and Naomi Taylor, a host of nieces and nephew will remember her loving spirit and life lessons.
Joann was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clarence Crump; her father, Lester Henderson; her mother, Senora Henderson; and her brothers, Paul, Tommy, and Lewis Henderson. Grandson Justin Taylor
Visitation will be held on Saturday December 21 11:00 at The Church Of Jesus Christ Apostolic, 600 East 36th street followed by funeral services at 12:00pm at the same location. Joann will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery on Central Ave.
