Joanna "Joan" Bonczek
Joan Bonczek, 90, of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away on October 1, 2022. Born in Johnstown PA, the youngest of nine children, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Joanna (Piskorz) Weglarz. Joan spent most of her life in Connecticut, before moving to North Carolina.
Joan was predeceased by her husband Stanley J. Bonczek. Joan is survived by her two sons. David Bonczek of Berlin, CT, and Richard Bonczek and his wife Rita of Travelers Rest, SC, Grandson Bryan and his wife Sonya of Chapel Hil, NC, Grandson Scott and his wife Samantha of West Hartford, CT, Granddaughter Helene of Charlotte, NC. She also leaves four Great Grandchildren (John, Sawyer, Sebastian, Sloan), and sixteen nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two nieces and two nephews.
Joan was employed at Johnson & Johnson for 25 years, as a Quality Control Technician, retiring in 1991. She volunteered for local Hospital Auxiliaries in her retirement. She was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Church in Plainville, CT.
Joan was an avid Boston Red Sox and UCONN Huskie fan. She very much enjoyed March Madness, and participating in and winning pools into her late eighties.
Memorial service will be arranged by the family and take place at a later date.
