Joanne (Reynolds) Barnes

Joanne Reynolds Barnes, 71, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, March 31, 2022. Joanne, also known as “Doobie Daber” to family and friends, was born in Charlotte, NC to J.B. and Emma Reynolds.

She attended Garinger High School and lived in Charlotte throughout her life.  Joanne was very social and considered a good friend by many.  She was ready for the next adventure…and always kept the road hot!  She loved to play games, dance, and sing!  She enjoyed spending time with family, the beach, and had a larger than life personality.  Her greatest accomplishment was her children and grandchildren and cherished all time spent with family and friends.  Those who had the joy of knowing her valued her kindness, spirit, and generosity.

She was truly one of a kind and will be missed by many. Surviving are her sons, Joseph Foy (wife Theresa, grandchildren Isabella and Trey) and Brian McGarity, daughter, Lindsey McGarity Hanson (grandson Levi), and step-daughter, Melissa Crenshaw.  Also surviving are brother, Eddie Reynolds (wife Suzie); sister, Jean Stokes (partner Barry); sister, Jan Swann (husband Larry); sister, Kim Sullivan (husband Craig); and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

Joanne was predeceased by her husband, Billy Barnes; parents, J.B. and Emma Reynolds; brother, Wayne Reynolds; nephew, Roger Reynolds: and brother-in-law, Tommy Swann.

The family will receive friends beginning at 4 o’clock in the afternoon on Sunday, April 3rd, 2022 at the Carolina Funeral Service and Cremation Center, 5505 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC 28212.  A memorial service in celebration of Joanne’s life will begin at 5:30 PM.

Joanne was deeply loved by her family and will be missed beyond measure.  Our hearts are broken, but we know she is no longer suffering and at home with the Lord.  The memories we have will be cherished forever.

Goodnight mom.  Watch over us until we meet again!  We will miss you tremendously!
