Joe Neal Killough, 86 of Charlotte, died Tuesday,February 18th, 2020 at the Novant-Presbyterian Hopsital. Born in Charlotte on June 14, 1933, Joe was the son of the late Hurley and Kathleen Phillips Killough. He attended the Matthew High School and graduated from East Meck High School. Mr. Killough had served with the US Army during the Korean War before returning to civilian life and operating Killough Enterprises. He retired as its president/owner after 20 yrs. Joe had earned his pilot's license in 1964 and later furthered his education earning his private and commercial instrument rating. He also held a Multi Engine license and flight instructor license.
Mr. Killough was a member of Morningstar Lutheran Church, Masonic Lodge 742 of Mint Hill, Oasis Temple Shrine, and a member of the Shriner's Clowns.
He is survived by his wife Janet, son Phillip Killough of Rock Hill, grandchildren Ashley & Phillip Killough; brothers Larry Killough of Monroe and Ed Killough of Concord; sisters Geneva Gresham, Peggy Poole, Linda Prissley, Judy Horne, LaVone Dennis and Mary Nelson.
Besides his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his brother Jim.
Services and interment will be held at a later date at Morningstar Lutheran Church, Idlewild Rd, Matthews.
Joe had asked for memorials be made to the Shriner's Childrens Hospital, Oxford Orphange or to the Levine Cancer Center
