Judy Nail Thomas, 81, of Charlotte and formerly Hickory, NC, passed away December 26, 2020 at home after battling pancreatic cancer.
Born October 19, 1939 in Hickory to the late Abe and Grace T. Nail, her family moved to Greensboro, NC when she was nine.
Judy was a 1957 graduate of Greensboro Senior High School and attended UNC-G. She was church secretary at Starmount Presbyterian Church in Greensboro before marrying Raymond L. Thomas in August 1959. They lived in Burlington, NC before moving to Hickory in 1984 where Judy became a fabric artist with Valdese Weavers before retiring. She and Ray moved to Charlotte in 2018 to be near family.
Judy is survived by Ray, her husband of 61 years, and sons Lee (Meredith), Michael, grandson Noel, sister Penny Bowlin of Greensboro and brother Abram Nail III of Lenoir.
She had a wonderful sense of humor and quick wit, loved bridge and crossword puzzles and possessed a delightfully unforgettable laugh. She is already greatly missed by family and friends.
Memorials can be made to Providence United Methodist Church in Charlotte or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
Due to the pandemic, a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
