Kathleen Sluss Casimo, age 92, passed away peacefully of natural causes on August 25, 2020. Born October 30, 1927 in Jenkinjones, WV, she was the daughter of the late Clovis Sluss and Hattie Sayers Sluss. She grew up with two brothers, Ralph and Lawrence Sluss. She was married to Fred Junior Casimo of Jenkinjones, WV on August 28, 1948 for 64 years until Fred’s passing at the age of 88 in 2013. They welcomed their son, Fred A. “Tony”, to their lives in 1955. Kathleen was a long time resident of Charlotte, North Carolina, having moved here from West Virginia with her husband and son in 1960. She and Fred were loyal members of Memorial United Methodist Church in Charlotte where they enjoyed fellowship with their local Christian community. Kathleen was a dignified homemaker, mother, and grandmother. She was beloved by all who had the pleasure of knowing her and her smile. She was a tough West Virginia woman through and through, and left this earth on her own time, just like she deserved. She is predeceased by her parents, Hattie and Clovis; husband, Fred; and her older brother, Ralph. She is survived by her son, Tony of Charlotte, NC; her two granddaughters, Noelle of Sea Isle City, NJ and Madison of Charlotte, NC, her younger brother, Lawrence of Norfolk, VA, and her sister-in-law, Kathleen Casimo Nolley of Richlands, VA.
Visitation will be held privately for the family. A graveside service to celebrate the life of Kathleen Sluss Casimo will be held on what would have been her 72nd wedding anniversary, Friday, August 28, 2020, 10am at Sunset Memorial Gardens on Lawyers Road in Mint Hill. Friends and family are welcome to attend the service, with social distancing precautions in place.
