Kenna W. Prince, age 79, died peacefully in Charlotte at the Social at Cotswold on Sunday, January 31. She was born February 28, 1941 in Warne, NC to Kenneth and Mildred West. Constantly on the move, Mrs. Prince grew up in Georgia, Germany, Texas, Korea and North Carolina. She graduated from Fayetteville High school in 1959 and Wake Forest College with a distinction in history in 1963. She married Howard T. Prince on August 22, 1964 at the Main Post Chapel in Fort Bragg, NC; sons Jefferson Todd and Brian Andrew were born in Germany on March 8, 1967. After moving to Charlotte in 1973, She worked thirty-three years as a Marine Specialist in the Insurance industry. As a young mother, Kenna spent most of her free time supporting Jeff and Brian’s spiritual, academic and athletic pursuits. Her house was a neighborhood destination and home-away-from-home for many teens. Christian faith was important to Kenna and she attended Eastern Hill Baptist for 47 years. There, she worked with children, taught Sunday school, sung in the choir, volunteered with Loaves & Fishes food pantry and was a great friend to many. She loved reading, cats, Downton Abby and many sporting teams; especially Wake Forest, the Atlanta Braves, Charlotte Hornets and Carolina Hurricanes. Kenna is survived by her sons, Jeff and Brian; a sister, Marilyn Gordon; brother-in-law, Raymond Gordon; one niece, Elizabeth O’Quinn; her husband, Chad; their children, Reagan and Zackery and other relatives throughout the state.
