Kenneth Friedman Obituary

Kenneth Friedman, born to Harvey and the late Cecilia Friedman on December 9,1959, spent his childhood in Lynbrook, New York, along with his older sister, Lorrie. In 1978, he moved to Charlotte to pursue an architecture degree at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte where he met the love of his life, Monica. Ken and Monica married on March 29, 1986 and spent the next 34 years in Charlotte where they built a home and raised their three children – Jakob, Jessica, and Jeramey.

Ken’s generosity and humanitarian spirit were palpable to all those he encountered. Throughout his life he had a knack for developing strong and meaningful relationships with colleagues, business partners, friends, and family alike without prejudice. Throughout his 30-year career in the printing industry, he was able to visit every corner of North America, enjoying the bustling cities to the peaceful country sides. In 2014, he transitioned to an entrepreneurial side of the industry, co-creating Precision Flexo & Gravure with his long-standing colleagues, friends, and then partners Larry and Tim. Ken was the epitome of a renaissance man – he loved creating art, cooking and baking (almost as much as eating), gardening, traveling and exploring, building, music, movies, dogs; but above all, he loved a good deal. A socially savvy introvert, he was in his true element at home relaxing with his family, friends, and 4 dogs. He was happiest at times when all those he loved were under one roof, and subsequently loved holidays for this very reason. A spiritual man, he always identified with the Catholic teachings and could be found every Sunday with his wife at St. Mathew’s Catholic Church. It was made official on November 6, 2020 when he was confirmed as Cecilia, inspired by his late mother. On this date, he received the Eucharist for the first time surrounded by his family and friends.

Ken is preceded in death by his mother, Cecilia; father-in-law, Roberto; dog, Jewels. He is survived by his loving family members including his father, Harvey; sister, Lorrie (Kurt); wife, Monica; children, Jakob (Kathryn), Jessica, and Jeramey (Kathryn); nieces, Alana (Carly), Cassie, and Kayla; great niece, Dakota; and dogs, Joy, Bree and Bella; and grand dogs, Juicy and Nugget. He is additionally survived by his mother-in-law, Micaela, and brother-in-law, Robert.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at St. Matthews Catholic Church in Charlotte, NC @ 11:00 a.m. Small outdoor and socially-distanced reception to follow at the Friedman residence.
