Ms. Maralon Crane Haviland 83 of Charlotte, passed away September 21, 2021 at Novant Presbyterian Hospital. Born in Toledo, Ohio to the late Alfred Hyatt Crane and Mary Pim Crane. She graduated from Ohio State University in 1960, then continuing her education at Ohio State Maralon completed her graduated work She moved to Charlotte and began her 22 year teaching career with Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System. Ms. Haviland taught at NorthEast Middle School, where she earned "CMS Teacher of the Year", several times. She would take students on school system sponsored trips during the summer to National Parks across the country. She even influenced several students, including long time friend John Anthony to become a Park Ranger.
Besides her parents, Ms Haviland was preceded in death by her sister Janet Barley and her former husband Jim Haviland. Survivors include her brother Garrett (Roberta) Crane, 1 nephew and several nieces.
A Memorial Service will take place on Tuesday, September 28th at 11AM at Memorial United Methodist Church, 4012 Central Ave, Charlotte. Masks and Social Distancing is required. In memory of Ms. Haviland, memorials may be made to Memorial United Methodist Church, 4012 Central Avenue, Charlotte, North Carolina, 28205.
