Matthew Vincent Scudellari

Matthew Vincent Scudellari, age 64, died Friday, June 12, 2021 at Atrium-Mercy Hosptal. 
Born in Great Neck, New York, Matt was the son of Vincent A. Scudellari and Anna Doreen Monaghan and brother of John E. Scudellari. All preceded him in death. 
Matt and his family moved to Charlotte, North Carolina in 1976. He attended UNC Charlotte, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice.  
When you met Matt, he greeted you with interest and a smile.  And, right away, he wanted to know your name, and then he would remember it.  You may have met him at church, or at the Fresh Market behind the Deli Counter, or at Karaoke, or at the park where he walked his dogs.  He loved meeting people, and would quickly count you as his friend. His capacity to love people was as big as his frame. Don’t ask him, “How tall are you?” as this was his least favorite question.  You could ask him about his family, songs he liked, or golf and sports.  His laugh was hearty and loud.  He could be boisterous and shy at the same time.  
He is survived by David and Ana Scudellari and Teresa Schrek and many cousins around the country.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 from 2-4pm at Carolina Funeral & Cremation Center, 5505 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC 28212.  A celebration of his life will be held at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in the Chapel at 11am on Wednesday,  June 16, 2021, 3016 Providence Road, Charlotte, NC 28211.  Matthew will be buried in the Cemetery of the Holy Rood in Westbury, NY with his parents.
